Jacqueline Horvat

Lawyer & Co-Founder

Jacqueline represents clients in commercial and shareholder disputes. She is involved in collaborative projects with the University of Windsor, including the Reclaim Pro Bono Project, representing clients who have suffered online and technology-facilitated violence. Jacqueline gives back to the profession by being a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs and mentoring new lawyers.

Jacqueline is a litigation lawyer and a founding partner of Spark Law Professional Corporation.

She has a broad and varied corporate/commercial litigation practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex (and not so complex) commercial disputes, shareholder oppression disputes, class action litigation, and appeals. She has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and is highly regarded as a skilled and experienced commercial litigation lawyer.

Splitting her time between Windsor and Toronto, Jacqueline is also an occasional instructor and frequent guest lecturer at University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. She is also involved in collaborative projects with the University of Windsor, including the Reclaim Pro Bono Project which provides free legal advice and representation to clients who have suffered online and technology-facilitated violence. The purpose of the project is to examine, research, and address pressing issues of social injustice in online environments. Specifically, the research focusses on non-consensual distribution of intimate images, online harassment, sextortion, public disclosure of private facts, voyeurism, and impersonation.

Jacqueline was elected as Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario in 2022 during her third term as an elected bencher.

In addition to her Law Society duties, Jacqueline is also the Ontario representative on the Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and is currently Second Vice-President of the Federation. She is Chair of the National Requirement Review Committee, and a member of the National Committee on Accreditation and the Public Affairs and Government Relations Committee. Jacqueline was also recently named as a member of the Independent Advisory Board for Supreme Court of Canada Judicial Appointments 2022.

Jacqueline is a past member of the Board of Directors of Library Co. Inc., a non-profit corporation created to manage the Ontario County and District Law Library system, and of the Ontario Judicial Education Network, an organization dedicated to fostering public understanding of the judicial system.
